Win $100 from Meow Mix!

Some of you may or may not know that we got Gertrude as a reward of sorts for our kids.  They wanted a pet for the entirety of their speaking lives, but we committed to getting them one under certain conditions.

Those conditions?  That we no longer had to purchase any form of diaper.  Not a regular diaper or a swim diaper or a pull-up.  That was the deal.

Once that happened I was ready.  My husband not so much. My husband’s bond with our cat is really unique.  But I will say he is a specific cat person.  He is a #gertrudejohnsen cat person.  He loves her and she loves him.

Her personality is too much.  She talks to him only when she has a job for him to do.  She meows for water or to play.  She knows when he comes home that he, and he only, is in charge of giving her treats and she runs to the rug where he dispenses them for her upon the sound of him coming in the door or right before we go to bed for the night.

She has him trained.  She tells us what she wants and when she wants it.  Understanding her is a result of our three-year relationship with her.  We love her and want her to be a happy girl.
We had never tried Meow Mix® treats until we were asked to do so for this post.  We tried Brushing Bites® Dental Treats Made with Real Chicken.  As you can tell from the photos, they were a hit.  Upon opening them she couldn't rub her scent on them enough.  Upon smelling them she actually began to put her paw in the bag to grab one and then proceeded to sticking her whole head in the bag.

We love a brand that makes her happy and Meow Mix can do that across the board.  From treats that are good to her teeth to wet and dry food that is good for her belly.  She fits in with our family like a puzzle piece and Meow Mix seems to fit her like that as well.

I got my tuxedo cat Tokyo as a companion to my now deceased gray tabby, Sneakers. The day I brought Tokyo home I got a call from my sister that she had found a stray that needed a home and she knew Sneakers needed a friend. That's how Gina the calico made us a 3-cat family. :) As noted, we've since lost Sneakers, but Gina and Tokyo continue to employ us as their butlers!

I remember when you got Gertrude! It's been a lot of fun watching her become a part of your family via social media (hope that doesn't sound too weird...). We got our cat about 3 1/2 years ago and we can't imagine life without her now! We were talking about getting a pet, and a cat seemed the better choice for our small apartment. So one night when I was scrolling through Facebook and saw her picture that my husband's cousin shared to help find a home for her, it was pretty much love at first sight. Her name is Salem, she's a silly, pretentious kitty cat, and she has us well-trained just like Gertrude, lololol! (BTW, we love the Meow Mix Brushing Bites!!)

We weren't looking for a dog because we haven't had great luck finding a breed that worked for everyone & that we could give the love & attention it deserved UNTIL our Lincoln. The hubby's aunt called out of the blue that she had a full blooded Yorkie free for the taking & that a she thought a sweet lapdog would match us perfectly. She was right & we have been smitten ever since!

We have a stay cat that we feed because it gets really cold here and no cats should go hungry. He is the cutest thing, and we are getting quite attached to him. We call him the very original name of "Kitty"

We have hermit crabs and fish because we are suckered for our kids begging. A dog is in the plans, but like you guys, not until we are buying no more diapers.

We got our cat Sally after an influx of mice in our garage. She was pretty feral when we first got her, but it is now about four years later and she is affectionate. I have not seen a mouse since she arrived!

We are in the process of adopting a cat right now, my kids have been begging us for a pet for months! My husband and I gave in and said after the holidays we can officially adopt a kitty, so we have been going to local shelters trying to find our perfect fit!
