project headboard. {DIY headboard}

For our anniversary this year Doug and I gave each other a king sized tempurpedic bed.  Very romantic right?  Well, I think it is.  I love that bed.  It is by far the best sleeping surface I have ever had the joy of using.  Anyway...when we got our new bed we could only afford the mattress and the frame...no headboard or footboard so it sat naked for a while.
And then...I found this project on the Lowes website.  It was all over with.  I didn't even have to cut the wood...this knee high boot wearing fella right here did it for me.
 I just got to bring it home and do all the fun parts....the gluing...
 ...the priming...
 ...the painting...
 ...the finishing...
 ...the installing...
 ...the falling in love.
 It is JUST how I pictured it.
The best part was that it only cost about $75 total.
It hangs on the wall and fits perfectly in with the other stuff in our room.
 I just love it.  So fresh and clean and perfectly aged.
Don't you love it when a project comes together?

When I follow the Lowe's link it doesn't take me to this project nor can I find anywhere in the projects. Am I missing something? I sure would like to give this a try!

HOW have I never been to your blog before? Fabulous!!!

I wonder how you did the stressed look of the color? The Lowe's design is just a stain, but you have a cool streaky/antiqued look. How did you create that?
