Proverbs 13:6

I share a daily devotional over at @littlebitfunky on Instagram and just thought I'd share some here as well.  Please enjoy and be encouraged!

Proverbs 13:6 - Friends, what is worrisome here is that we can easily slide from one of these categories into the other: the righteous or the wicked. We are all susceptible to the enemy’s tricks and ambitions to trip us up. I can’t say it better than C. S. Lewis so here’s a quote: **Good and evil both increase at compound interest. That is why the little decisions you and I make every day are of such infinite importance. The smallest good act today is the capture of a strategic point from which, a few months later, you may be able to go on to victories you never dreamed of. An apparently trivial indulgence in lust or anger today is the loss of a ridge or railway line or bridgehead from which the enemy may launch an attack otherwise impossible.** Basically, there’s no small decision. It all matters. There are no tiny sins, it all gets thrown on a scale of good versus evil. We need STRONG, thick boundaries for ourselves and to respect them. I’ve watched so many friend’s marriages dissolve recently and it didn’t happen overnight. It starts with something seemingly innocent but just a tad wrong. And thus the seed is planted and grows. No one sets out to sin, at least for the most part. We let down our guard. We don’t take sin or the enemy seriously or we lose our humility and replace it with arrogance. We must stand firm. Be strong and on watch at all times. There is not a temptation we cannot resist because of who lives within us. Let us not be fools who forget and trap themselves. Soak ourselves in the word and observe the decay of the world when we don’t. Righteousness will guard us when we seek to be blameless. Otherwise we are chum in the water and the enemy is a shark.
