the last detail.

The final detail of the robot party...the thank you.
This year we upped Moses' involvement in his thank you's...
I drew out a simple, fill in the blank note...then photo copied it.
Moses job was to color each of them...and I think he did quite great.
Then he sat with me as we filled them in together.
I love the added extra of showing his coloring progress. :)
This way of doing thank yous will (hopefully) help him to know the importance of showing gratitude and to get in the habit of sending thank yous.
Then every year I do a collage to include in the family thank you cards. This one is obviously from two to three...I do a large print for us to hang and I LOVE LOVE to look at them hanging on the wall together. It is SO fun to see how he changed from birth to one, from one to two and now from two to three.

It's a great way to send photos without send a million of them...you can make them at kodak.com or other places I am sure.

Like it or not, I plan to do them until at least 18. :)

THE robot party!

We had so much fun planning and throwing Moses' robot party...
the morning of the party we filled the half bathroom with balloons to surprise him.
We made lots of paper "space orbs".
Our robot centerpiece.
The party room. :)
Favors waiting to be adopted. :)
Cupcakes that were even better the second time. :)
Cute. Cute. Cute. Fun. Fun. Fun.
If you are going to work with fondant...I highly suggest a practice cake. :)
This is Moses telling me that he is three (wearing his robot shirt!).
Could not get a good photo of them for the life of me...this is the best I could do.
His reaction to the singing of "Happy Birthday".
This was the first year that we could sing it to him and him not cry. :)
Every time he started to open a gift he would say "What is it?!"
Look at that concentration!
Then...on his actual birthday I put a candle in his cereal and sang happy birthday to him...then we went and got pumpkins. :)

I still can't believe that he is three!

It was a fun party...a fun birthday...now...what to do for Aaron's first...

party of the year.

We are working hard this week...
All the RSVP's are in...
Moses likes to ask who is coming...Uncle B...yes...Katie Elise...yes...etc.
I have a daily to-do list of what must get done...
I just want him to love it.
Cause every time I think of my baby boy turning three...I tear up a little?
How did that happen so fast?

practice makes perfect?

This weekend we did a practice run of Moses' robot party cupcakes. :)
I have never worked with fondant...or done any kind of REAL cake decorating...so I wanted to make sure they weren't going to turn out hideous. :)
AND I wanted to make sure the fondant didn't taste like rubber. Important.
Inspired by a link I found via google...I think these build a robot cupcakes will be perfect for his party...their little legs and bodies are interchangeable. :) I think they turned out cute...for my first time...
This guy is my favorite...I LOVE his little hands!
Here they are all mixed up...we let Moses have a taste test by giving him one of the cupcakes that didn't really look like a robot...he seemed to LOVE the fondant...so I think they are a go!
I think they will be a hit. :)

The things we learn and do for our kids, right?

Happy Sunday!

settle our beef.

we're on a mission.
our favorite oldest son is turning three soon.
ok, october.
but i have learned since having a second child that it takes me twice as long to do things as it did before...so where i would normally start planning his party a month in advance...i am now starting two months before hand.
we want it to be awesome.
we have tons of fun ideas.
this weekend we set out to start working on our ideas for favors.
meet bot A.
meet bot B.
doug made one and i made the other.
he thinks his is better.
i think mine is.
so we thought we would have some silly fun.
and let you vote.
:)
the only "rule" we had was that their bodies had to be slinkys...they are still in their boxes.
the rest of them is made from random things we had or purchased...
the purpose being that as a whole...it would be a cool party favor.
but when the kid gets sick of their robot...they could be dismantled for more fun.
i can't wait to share our other ideas with you.
by the time we are done...you will be all set to throw your own robot party.
:)

so weigh in please...join our silly fun!

which do you prefer?
bot A?
or bot B?

i'll let you know whose is whose at the end of the week!
