how to make a fort from pallets! {a fun summer project}

Our backyard is all sun, no shade.  Last summer the boys wanted to be out there but were always in search of a little refuge from the sun.  This afternoon we set out to change that!
A couple of pallets, some scrap wood and whatever that green roofing is called later and we have the beginnings of a fun summer hangout!
We still have some work to do, adding another pallet to the back, a little railing, some flower boxes (for string beans to grow and cover the house) and maybe a mailbox but we think we have a great start!
In fact, Aaron had his first meal in there this evening.  He didn't care if it was finished or not.
Hope this inspires to make your own out of what you have!  Be sure to check your pallets for the IPPC seal and an “HT” stamp, designating it was heat-treated rather than sealed with chemical pesticides, as shown above, which makes them safe to use!
