Sick Days {Part two}
Can I confess something?
I almost like when my boys are sick...just a little sick though...not the coming out of both ends sick. I prefer the "just sick enough to slow them down, but not so sick we need to worry" kind of sick. You know, the kind of sick that doesn't need a doctor other than myself. The kind of sick that Children's Mucinex is perfect for.
Maybe it's because I have two boys. Who are active from the moment their little eyelids peel open in the morning to the moment those same lids force themselves closed at the end of the day. They never ever stop moving, or jumping, or hopping, or scaling the walls, or pretending to be hero-ing. They have 100% energy all day long, no matter the weather or the fact that it's Saturday morning and their parents want to sleep in.
When they are sick, however, it's then that they magically have time to stop and cuddle a bit with their mom. It's my favorite. {Not too} sick days make way for couch time, movies, puzzles and building blocks. Less time for running and being crazy people. No matter how old they are, they revert back to just little boys who need some time and their mom to make them feel better. No matter how tough or grown they are on healthy days, they always revert back to sweet little babies who need me. It's nice to be needed.
I also enjoy the forced slowness of a sick day. Life can get so busy and crazy that sometimes you need a real reason to just slow down. A nice cuddle on the couch with my sick boys, a little coffee and some down time goes a long way to making us all feel better. Sick days always seem to come at the right time, too, do you ever notice that? They seem to show up here when life gets too out of control and we need something to force us into sloooooooow. I'm also thankful for the flexibilty of my schedule that allows me these "take it easy" kind of days. I'm sure I may feel different if I wasn't my own boss.
Do you feel like this? What's your favorite part of a sick day? Is it the same way with little girls? I'd love to hear from you!

I recently had my first "sick day" with my 4 year old boy. We snuggled on the couch, read and did puzzles. I loved being able to spend that one on one time with him, even if he is under the weather. My daughter, on the other hand, NEVER gets sick :)

Watching a funny movie, laughing always makes her feel better
We usually put in movies since they normally don’t get to watch them. Leaving TV and movies for special times only makes it so they really enjoy watching it when the opportunity comes along.
Sometimes it's fun to let them be silly. Sometimes I'll make up a language and pretend like I'm speaking English and they'll have to figure out what I'm doing. I'll keep bringing them water or something because I don't understand them.
