Best Buy Review- Num 2-Withings Smart Body Scale
I have a confession. I am not, nor have I ever been, a diet follower. I just don’t believe in them. I believe in portion control and balance as much as possible. I have tried a diet here or there, but it always left me felt like I was being punished for something.
The only thing I have ever found that works for me, in regards to weight control, is to weigh myself daily, in the morning. I’m not talking in a crazy obsessive way. I’m talking in a way that helps me to be a little more aware of what I eat in a day.
I know that if I weigh myself and I’m up a little, then it would be best to up the veggies and skip dessert, go on a longer walk, etc. If I’m down, well maybe I’ll help myself to a cupcake. Maybe not the best diet plan, certainly not dietician approved, but it’s always worked for me.
With all that said, I love a good scale.
My product to review this week was the Withings Smart Body Scale.
Meet my new best friend. First of all, upon opening the box, I just liked the way it felt. It felt solid, well made, and sturdy. It was also very easy to set up, as a scale should be, right? It looks as pretty as a scale can be.
Immediate bonus? It said I weighed 3 ounces less than my previous scale.
I immediately loved that it was digital, easy to read and love that I can track my weight fluctuations and BMI via my private, online Withings account, which was a breeze to set up. It’s cool to be able to geek out on the charts and graphs that you can use.
For me, a highly visual person, it’s further motivation to more closely observe what I am eating in a way that is healthy and beneficial to my long term fitness and weight goals.
Would I recommend this to a friend? Yes, especially if that friend was a visually driven person such as myself, or if they were a number loving person. If seeing your weight slide down your own personal x and y axis would encourage you to shed those extra pounds, then RUN out and get one.
You won’t be disappointed with what you get for the money you spend: a high quality scale with the ability to give you a boost into the next level of your weight loss journey. You can monitor your health and weight with this scale that features WiFi connectivity, so your weight and BMI data can be sent directly to your private online account.
Well, before you run out to get one, do you want to try to win one first? Well guess what? You can!

47 sweet friends chimed in...:
I would LOVE to win this scale! I like that it shows your BMI as well as your weight, and I'm into charting and graphing things too. =)
Awesome scale! I would love being able to track my weight visually, what a great motivator!
Hi, Crystal! I've been following you for awhile but this is the first time I've left a comment. Let me just say how much I enjoy reading what you've written... I'm also from VA (a Hokie, nonetheless), a mom, a beginning sewer, and a lover of Jesus. Thanks for all the effort you put into making my day a little better!
I'd love to win this scale... after 3 kids, it's harder to find the motivation to get a little extra weight off. Maybe this would be the ticket! I hope so. I'd love to track all of the different functions online and see if my subtel changes were making a difference. Thanks!!
This scale sounds pretty high tech, certainly better than my how to my pants fit estimations now. :)
Ok, I'm in a weigh less challenge and would love this!!
This would be the perfect addition to my program for losing at least 52 pounds this year (one per week)
This would really be inspirational. I would love to win making weight loss just a little bit easier
Erin
This scale looks great and I would love to have one in my weight loss journey.
My BF and I are on a weightloss journey and have lost 50 lb each and would like to shed another 30. We changed our whole lifestyle in order to achieve results, including weekly weigh ins on Sunday mornings, jogging after work, and planning meals that roughly fit into weight watcher guidelines. This scale would definitely help us get to our goal!
Would love to win this fantabulous scale, as I don't own one at all. Loven the idea of knowing my numbers, especially my BMI (Yikes!)
Thanks!
I would love to see those numbers on my scale again! Have an old broken digital scale that's missing one or two electronic red lines so I have to guess if I'm a 180 or 130... I'll take the 130!
I'd love to win this scale! I think seeing my BMI and body fat change, as well as the numbers on the scale would be a big motivator for me.
I am a visual person and seeing those numbers and then having the ability to link up to my private "Withings" account would be sweet. Can it make me want to exercise, too?
This scale is awesome! I'd love to win it--I'm starting to track my BMI and Fat/Muscle Mass more since I'm at the point where I can't lose much more weight--and I want the numbers as proof that I am still working hard to maintain an active, healthy life.
This would be perfect! There are 6 people in my family so being able to each keep track of our own would be great. Plus we have this olddd scale from maybe the 80's and it doesn't exactly tell you the, ahem, correct weight...so the annual doctors checkup always comes as an unfortunate surprise.
I tweeted!

I try NOT to weigh myself, but DH is working really hard to eat good, so he's been using the scale a lot. I can tell ours is kinda off, but I don't want to spend the money on a new one. He would LOVE this to help him stay on track and I'd love for him to be motivated and keep going!
I was actually thinking about buying one of these, so I would love to win one! I have quite a bit of weight to lose and this would be wonderful to help me on my journey!
I've never owned a scale before! But after I have my baby in a week this would be the best thing ever to help me get back in pre baby shape!
Oooh, I'm less than fond of BMI, but would love to have an easy visual representation of my weight trendline. I am so much more morivated by a graph!
This sounds like an amazing scale! I would love to have one! What's better than a good graph?!?!
I'd love to win this scale. Mine isn't nearly as high tech!
Wow! I would love to win this scale. I am in need of a new scale, and this one looks pretty cool.
oooh!! Geeking out over charts sounds fabulous to me too - thanks for the chance!
I'd love a new scale. I don't trust mine old one a bit!
I'm kind of the same way. What I weigh in the morning helps me eat better/worse. ha. I would love this one because mine only does 1/2 pound increments and HOW DID I GAIN 1/2 of a pound by taking a bath? At least let's have a scale that is fully truthful. :)
Love the BMI feature on the scale. Would love a new scale!
I have done Weight Watchers for six months and have lost 40 pounds. My old scale only does .5 increments and really fluctuates either up or down. What a great way to monitor my BMI after joining the gym
I could totally use a new scale - mine has a big crack down the middle and I'm pretty sure is off by 5 or so lbs - which isn't so bad actually, but if it's not very helpful in the motivation for weight loss department.
I also use that method of "diet"...I weigh myself every morning and I know where I stand with food and exercise. I tend to eat more junk most days, however I know I have to run a few more miles to balance it all out.
Confession time: I have to lose ONE HUNDRED pounds to be super healthy. I just had baby #2 and, lets be honest, losing weight STINKS. But man, this scale is COOL. And it would make losing the weight stink a little less. Wi-Fi enabled? Dang, Gina!
I did the alternate entry too!
Maintaining my weight loss after losing over 50# in 18 months has depended on an accurate scale, which I do not have. So going to the clinic shocks me when I stand on the scale. Because my health issues make it hard for me to work full-time, I can't afford to buy a newer scale. Being chosen would be a very good tool.
Oh I guess I need one:( I just went to the doctor and she said to lose weight eat better and walk. My thyriod is underactive and high blood pressure and no good sugar mean it is time to get a scale and start eating better and walking. This looks like the nicest scale ever. Thanks for this give a way
I was recently diagnosed with PCOS and this would really help me as I begin my journey.
I have been wanting this scale forever now. I would love to win one. Thanks for the amazing chance!
This scale looks awesome. Love the cool features.
I need a new scale - love the special features of the scale.
I would love to win this scale. What a helpful way to help me lost weight!
This scale sounds great! I love all the added features and how it sends everything to an account online. We need a new scale! The only one we have is super old school that my grandparents-in-law gave us.
Yup, weighing myself daily is THE best motivator for me. Would LOVE this scale -especially because of the BMI! That is a great addition to a scale!
I want this! I have been eyeing it since they started advertising it on SparkPeople. What a great tool!
The scale would be a healthy start to my resolution to lose the weight I've gained this past year.
Lindsay
I LOVE a good scale as well.
I absolutely love your approach to 'diet' and once I reach my goal weight, I think I'll use that approach to maintain it... In the meantime, I would LOVE to have this scale as a means to track my weightloss through the wifi tracker! Love, love, love this idea!
I weigh myself every time I go to the gym, but I feel a bit conspicuous doing it there. I'm the same way about my weight. It's a motivation to me depending on what the scale says. It keeps me going the right direction. It would be great to have such an awesome scale at my own home. Thanks for the offer!
We would love this scale for our family! We struggle to get our three year old to eat a lot. Each time he does a nice job eating at the dinner table we praise him and tell him how strong he is getting and how big his muscles are! He promptly jumps up to get on the scale in the bathroom to see how much weight he gained. We don't have a digital scale, so this one would be perfect for our little guy!
