what i made for monday-cream cheese squares.
These cream cheese squares are AMAZING...not to mention quick and easy to make. I'm thinking I'll be making these again when it's my turn to make something for Bible study.
I will admit...they aren't all that pretty to look at because they look burnt...but I promise that the color comes from cinnamon. :)
(taken from allrecipies.com)
2 (8 ounce) cans refrigerated crescent roll dough
2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese
1 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup margarine, melted
1/4 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13 inch pan.
Press one can of the crescent rolls into the bottom of the prepared pan. In a medium bowl, mix together the cream cheese, 1 cup of sugar, and vanilla until smooth and creamy. Spread over the crescent layer. Unroll the second can of crescent rolls and lay them on top of the cream cheese layer. Do not press down. Pour the melted margarine over the entire pan. Combine the remaining 1/4 cup of sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle over the top.
Bake for 25 to 30 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the top is crisp and golden. (I ended up cooking mine for much longer than 30min. Once I got to the 30 min time, I started setting my timer for 4 minutes and checking it then for doneness. You want the top to no longer be buttery but kind of crispy.)
Enjoy ONE and then get the rest OUT OF THE HOUSE...which is what I am planning on doing!
I am finally caught up enough on orders to be able to spend some time on my own projects or new ideas and this is one that bubbled to the surface. :) He's already adopted but I would be happy to make another for you! :)
Thanks for stopping by!
