random. random. random.

do you see this kid? the sheer joy in his eyes when he does naughty.
that's a look that says "that WAS as awesome as i hoped it would be".

what you can't tell is that egg is in his hair, on his face and up and down his arms.  or that his brother watched in silence while he did this...or that BOTH parents were in the room while he managed this latest shenanigan.  good thing he is .01% more cute than naughty.
this is my latest crafty conquest.
i started by learning this free pattern from roxycraft.

then nearly talked myself into buying a whole book based on these little amigurumi figures...but had a light bulb moment instead...i realized that if i learned a basic body pattern i could add the details myself to make any animal i could want...so i started with this guy. :) i just realized that he has no ears...oops...

some answers from this post
--i am doing jillian micheal's 30 day shred.
--yes, for days one through four you will need assistance getting up from the toilet, or going up or down stairs or doing anything quickly.  good luck washing your hair.  but that will dissolve (for the most part) by day five.
--i am still on level one.  i tried level two at day 11 but found it to be too high impact for me.
--i try to get it done first thing in the morning.  after coffee.  before shower.  it takes 27 minutes.  at approximately 8min and 57seconds into it every. single. day. i have to resist the urge to break down in tears.  really.  i don't know what the heck that is about but all of my emotions converge at 8m 57s and i have to push through.

thank you for your encouragement in this area. :)
your kind comments make my day and you really do keep me from quitting. :)

stay tuned for my next post...where things got ugly because of my last post but
you talked me out of quitting this blogging thing all together without even knowing it because you guys are awesome like that.

we'll have a mclinky too so i can come visit you all...it's been too long since we've done one.  :)

hey crystal,
just thought i'd let you know i bought the shred for my hubs as a bday gift (figured at least one of us would get use out of it). so far, we've done level one for three consecutive days. and we are feeling the burn. we've both been running for a couple months now and are adding this to our routine.......nice reminder we are no spring chickens over here! keep on keepin on! thanks for the motivation!

Hi Crystal,
I've been a long time reader and I love your blog! I started the 30 day shred and am on day 3. All because of you! Thanks for posting about it and keeping us updated. It's been really motivating for me and I finally just did it! Keep up the good, hard work!

This just made me laugh hard enough that Kyle came in to see what was so funny.

That little guy sure does keep things interesting for your days :) He must know you need a little comic relief...or something like that. Looks kind of like my 5yr old, who is surviving solely on his cuteness many a day.

Hi Crystal-
I love reading your blog and read it daily, so I hope, hope, hope you don't quit writing this. I hope the good it does (good messages of God for folks, memories of your life and kids to document) outweighs the bad.

I have been wanting to tell you congrats for doing the shred--for getting out of your comfort zone to do that. I am encouraged now to try something like that when the school year is over (about 10 weeks). So thanks. Your results are awesome!

Also, I hear you when you talk about craziness of wanting to move. I continue to pray for you in that, and I think God's timing and ways are not ours to really understand at the time...but maybe later.

I'm thinking of doing the 30 day shred too! Training for my 10k leg of the marathon here on 5/15 but only running 4x a week, thinking I could do the shred on my off days :) My muffin top has turned the corner from cute to just sad.

what a cute little lion...

you have to only have like 10 more days left huh? that's exciting:)

I am doing a 6 week diet and I'm doing great. your post on your 30 day shred, gave me a lot of motivation to stick with it!

I just read the blog below and am saddened at the responses you got from blog readers....I enjoy blogs, both happy and sad. We all have our ups and downs and this is a great place to get it out of your system. I would just say keep praying but it sounds like you are doing that. One of my life verses in the journey I am going through right now..."For I know the plans I have for you" declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Keep doing what you are doing...and you are one brave soul for doing that 30 day shred. Yikes!...lol

You are hysterical! I know you don't FEEL hysterical these days, but you definitely bring smiles to your readers' days! Still can't understand the concept of people EMAILING you to harp on their perception of your situation or your attitude. Just don't get it. Hang in there, girl!

You are doing so awesome with the Shred! I started after you, and reached day 11 last Friday--and it well, kicked my butt. I cried. I screamed. I thought I was dying. I need to go back to level 1 too. And hope that someday I'll be ready for level 2! ;)

Like many people above me, I'm doing the Shred because of your blog and stories about it. I'm finally up to level 2 and I can't believe how hard it is to jump around for 20 minutes BUT I also can't believe how much more amazing I feel.

Thank you so much for turning me onto the idea of the Shred!
