remember these?

Another treasure we uncovered in the attic was the very first cabbage patch doll I ever received.  It hurt a little to admit that I got for Christmas over 25 years ago...sheesh...how is that possible?
Hoho immediately took to him...Rodney is is given name, you know, because they all came with one, but hoho calls him Ra-ra and has slept with him ever since I washed him and magic erasered his face.
And he is naked because...well the clothes didn't hold up as well as the doll...and I cannot believe how much a new outfit is...I'll have to be on the lookout for a good clearance deal.
This is the moment where hoho realized that ra-ra has a bum bum.  And he said as much.
And just for fun...here is little me maybe in '89 with my little brother and sister...with all of my cabbage patch dolls.  What?  You didn't have 30?

Remember the craze those things started?
Elmo and the Furbees have nothing on the Cabbage Patch dolls.

I'll bet you could make some MUCH cuter clothes than those ridiculously priced ones they sell in stores. ;) Just sayin'!

I was told many times how hard it was for my mother to find one for me!

Katy took the words out of my mouth - you'd be able to make some much cuter clothes for way cheaper!

I wanted one so badly. I finally received one at the cusp of being too old to enjoy dolls anymore. What a shame. She had blond pigtails and purple glasses. My mom still has it. Too funny!

i had 2 and those are the only 2 dolls in our home, so when girls come over, they are played with.
and they had the original clothes until the neighbor girls borrowed them...now they are lost forever!

you could always make clothes for the doll, if you cannot find any.

You can definitely make cuter clothes! I actually just picked up a pattern book at the thrift store to make cabbage patch clothes--straight from the 80's! LOL! I plan on making some, and updating them w/ modern fabrics, etc!

I totally had at least 30, or maybe still have because they are at my mom's house. I had every hair color, the twins, the boys, the girls, the black babies, the preemies, and even the dog.

Wow...your son and brother look exactly alike! Isn't family great?! I had one Cabbage Patch doll and I was 16 when I got her!

Ha! Love it! I just ordered one for my (nearly) 2 year old son. We picked out a 25th anniversary doll, because it's the same one my husband had once upon a time. :) You can order cabbage patch dolls, clothes, and shoes from the official website.

We just moved & I found mine too. AND my daughter has taken to 2 of mine just like your son to yours! My Cabbage Patch Kid's name was Rodney also but my daughter has changed the name to Robby. I love that she loves him as much as I did, but I don't like his new name! We have to take him everywhere, the checker at Costco last week couldn't believe cabbage patch kids were still around! So fun that we can pass along our childhood toys and memories to our kids!

I was a smidge too old for dolls when they came out. My li'l sis had one though. Can't believe you had so many!
Your boys look like your little bro. So cute!

I can't believe you had that many Cabbage Patch dolls! So you only kept the first? Did you give up your other adopted babies for re-adopttion? lol. The bum-bum shot cracked me up!

My husband thinks I'm absolutely crazy, but he does not understand that those dolls were my "kids" for my entire childhood!! :)
