We carved pumpkins last weekend...Moses was pretty excited to design his own this year...
He drew a face and I cut it out. I think it's the cutest pumpkin that I've ever seen.
This was mine...may or may not reflect how I feel about Charlottesville. :)
I did this one for hoho...
and this one is Doug's.
Moses is excited to go trick-or-treating for the first time this year...I wish I had a camera on him to catch the look on his face when I explained it all to him...needless to say he has asked every day since then when we are going.
And that's the extent of the Halloween experience at the Johnsen house...Halloween does nothing for me...and I honestly can't wait to rip down all the Fall decor and get to Christmas! :)

Too cute...that little hand-drawn face just melts your heart, doesn't it? We'll be down in your area in a week or so! :)
I love your pumpkins I think that they are great! I love Halloween but then that is because my daughter has an October birthday and she was born after a hayride at a pumpkin patch. I am sorry that you dislike where you live I have been in your shoes.
I love these pumpkins. They are so cute! Especially the ones with the stems for noses. How creative. :)
I thought your family didn’t do Halloween. Perhaps it was a different blogger, but I was almost sure you wrote a post about not dressing up for Halloween, etc. Anyway, I’d love to hear the reason for change of heart--if in fact it is.
Thanks--
Nancy
Fabulous pumpkins!!! I always forget the stem-as-nose idea. I'm planning on doing ours today.
oh, how cute! my daughter was able to design her own this year, too. i like the one you did with the stem for a nose. super cute!
I have to say that HoHo's pumpkin is my favorite. Such a cute smile!!!

Hey Nancy,
Not sure you'll see this post Nancy but go back to Little Bit Funky's archive and find October 21, 2008. She explains their family's stance on Halloween from her post two years ago and I don't believe it's changed. Great post, Crystal.

this is awesome! good thing charlottsville's likes you better then you like it. :)
Very cute pumpkins!
You know, being an Australian, I don't actually get the whole Halloween thing, even though sadly, it is creeping into this country quite quickly. It is after all an American tradition, not Australian. What are we going to take on next, Fourth of July? Thanksgiving?
Sorry, it just saddens me that we are losing a lot of our Aussieness and becoming so Americanised. Don't get me wrong, I do love America and the people. I'm sure you understand what I'm saying.
Anyway, the other thing I don't get is that christians seem to 'celebrate' Halloween too. How come? I thought the origins of Halloween would be enough to not even give it a second thought. I'm just curious.

Love the green one! I, too am eager to decorate for Christmas, but I LOVE fall, so I am having a good time with the pumpkins and leaves first. :)
