what i'm reading...

Several of you lovelies have asked what I am reading...well here is my summer reading list...

Starting from the top is
This is the book I am currently reading.  And honestly I am forcing myself to finish.  I don't get what all the craze over this book comes from...but maybe it will show up in the last couple of chapters?

Then there is one of my Bibles...
I read this one every morning before the boys are up...quiet time with coffee. :)
I like it because every day gives you a chunk of Old Testament, a chunk of New Testament, some Psalms and some Proverbs.

Then some skirts I am working on.

Under those skirts is
I love his blog.  It is a rare post that doesn't make me laugh out loud.  Though I am not technically reading this book at the moment I do sneak a chapter here and there because I can't wait to read it.
Under that is
This is Doug's book.  But I want to read it because he did. :)

Then is a box of vintage thread.

Then is
I love Francine Rivers writing.  I just finished reading her new one Her Mother's Hope.
And I can't wait for the sequel to come out in the Fall.  The Son's of Encouragement series are the only books of hers that I have not read.

Sent to me by a blog reader who loved it so much that she bought me my own copy.  I can't wait to read a book that someone loves that much. :)

Under that
Another Doug book that I want to read because he did.

And then
My first Beth Moore book.  She scares me. A little.  But I am looking forward to it.

My mother in law passed it along to me...and we usually like most of the same books...so I added it to the list. :)

Because I like the patterns.

A Doug book that I have no intention of opening.  He is doing a great job of teaching himself guitar...I'm so proud of him. And the boys love it...Aaron will walk to where it is hanging on the wall and point to it to tell Doug to play.  :)

And finally...is a CARS magazine.  That belongs to Moses.

I never got through The Shack - just the first couple chapters before I gave up on it and I never do that! Love all things Barbara Kingsolver! Great collection you have.

Personally, I LOVED "The Shack" from the very beginning. It's my all-time fav book! :)

I didn't get The Shack craze either. I didn't like it at all. I love me some Beth Moore though. I'm sure you'll enjoy that one.

I completely agree about the Shack and Beth Moore! You have a great selection of books and I have the same Bible. :) We're sick at home this morning, so I should be reading mine instead of being online....oops.

So glad I'm not the only one who couldn't get into "The Shack" It is one book i can honestly say I will never read again. The last few chapters woke up the whole book, but it was a struggle.
Hope you enjoy the Kindsolver book, she's one of my faves, if you haven't already, check out "The Poisonwood Bible" My all time favorite book.
Happy reading :)

Cried for 3 days after I read the Shack, mostly at the thought of my 6 year old daughter being snatched, butchered and dumped in the woods where we couldn't find her. Not a read for the squeamish. But I though it did a good job of challenging some of the religious/pharisaical beliefs about God that are out there.

I am currently reading So Long Insecurity. It is a good book. I did one of her Bible studies last sumer, and it was great. Just what I needed at the time.

You will LOVE Beth Moore! She is a tad scary in the fact that, she makes you reach into places that you either don't want too or didn't know you had. It's great for the healing heart. You should add a box of kleenex to that stack ;)

Nice stack of Summer Reading. My stack is a little shorter but I am reading them ALL at the SAME time. I can't help it, its an illness I have. I love that you mixed in fabric.

I couldn't make it through The Shack either. It's one of very few books I've ever abandoned half-way through. Most of the men that I know who have read it love it, but the women who have don't enjoy it as much.

I've never been a Beth Moore fan. I think it's all a little commercialized to me, but I couldn't resist So Long, Insecurity. I HIGHLY recommend it. I think all women should read it. It really changed the way I think about some key things in my life.

Happy reading!

Not a fan of the Shack. I didn't get it. We also have the Beth Moore book (love her), Blink and the one year Bible on our bookstand. Looks like we have something in common;)
