moses is 3 1/2 but has to wear a 5t pants and a boys xs shirts.sadly (for me) the boys xs shirts are meant for boys much older
than 3 1/2. for the most part all I have been able to find, or at least the
bulk of what I have found are either anime (hideous),
tacky characters or have some sassy saying on them.
blech.
I want CUTE three year old clothes...LITTLE boys stuff...
firetrucks and guitars and baseball.
my first shopping experience for these new sizes
had me walking out of the store with nothing.
I nearly cried.
And decided I would make my three year old, three year old
type shirts...in a big boys size.
Both are done with the simple applique technique.
the mix tape one I actually just cut out of the
fabric and arranged in a way that made me happy.
anytime I find a great boys fabric I grab some...
...they just don't seem to come around as much
as all the cute stuff for girls.
problem solved.
I spent less, made original AND my three year old
gets to dress like he is three.
:)

great job! isn't is so rewarding to be able to "beat" the competition? you are so lucky to have teh creativity gene to be able to come up with that and actually be able to pull it off. the tshirts are way cute!
That is such a great idea!
I love those, Crystal!! I totally agree on the boys clothes. Girls get all the cute stuff and it's not fair! Great job!
I love these shirts - they are so cute! I absolutely think that you should make some to list in your shop. I searched Etsy for "boys and 5T" and it returned only 80 hits, of which several were girls 5T tops. I think there would be a market for these, as many moms to boys seek cute handmade items but discover that the handmade clothing market seems to be inundated with choices for girls (i.e. tutus, pillowcase dresses, etc).
Also, I have a big-for-his-age boy, too. We find cute age-appropriate graphic tees at The Children's Place. They are usually 3/$20, and there are always 15% coupon codes to use there so the final price is about $6 each. I just picked him up a lightning bolt, guitar, and shamrock themed shirt in the Boys sizes (XS, S, etc). They are a thick, soft tee that washes well, too.
Sorry for the long comment! I just love your tees! :)
very very cool. we had the same trouble, and then even when they are five you are limited if you don't want them wearing a creepy action figure with horns and weapons. :( We have found that Shopko, of all places, has the CUTEST classic boys t-shirts in big kid sizes. drum kits, guitars skate boards, cute, clean, and cool. ;)
I totally hear you . . . Jack's only 2 1/2 and fits into the XS in boys' sizes and will likely be in 5T by mid-summer. I dream of having time to make him cute t-shirts, but until I do, I'll be checking your shop until I see some. :)
Hello! I randomly stumbled across your blog, and I love your ideas! This one is especially cute :]
Those are really cool! I love them. I have 3 boys and am always looking for crafting ideas. Thanks for a great one.
Wow! Such great tees! I totally love that mixed tape fabric. Where'd you find that?
What a great idea! I love the hammerhead. I just stumbled across your blog and I love it!
