To say thanks for all your amazing and comforting comments on the last post...
well thanks just doesn't do it.
You made me feel less like a freak and more like a normal mom...doing normal mom things.
That, I can handle.
And if you still think I am terrible...well...we can still be friends right?
So have been super duper busy...getting things in line for this here blog...
...a couple of fun things to share with you.
First...remember THIS from last year?
Go check it out and come back...
Well it is THAT time again!
And man...I have got some super duper giveaways for you.
I mean...good enough that I am considering renting a p.o. box in a neighboring town and going by the name Cornbread Jones so I can win them.
They are that good.
But there is still room.
If you have a shop and want to offer up a giveaway...you just send me an email and we will see what we can do...last year the response was SO great that I didn't have time to do them all before Christmas!
This Friday is the first Favorite Things Giveaway...and it is JUST the thing to get you moving.
Come back then...
Once a month (at least for November and December)
I am going to choose my favorite comment from the month...and
send you a cupcake!
Just for being you...because I can.
And because I am really dying to know the hundreds of you who stop by and never leave a comment...if I have to bribe you out of lurkdom...then so be it.
Consider yourself bribed.
So come on all you witty folk, you funny people, you sweet people, you sassy people.
Hit me with your best shot.
Any post, any comment could be a winner.
And wouldn't a cupcake just make your day?
I'll even let you choose the flavor. :)
If you are having some crisp fall days...I have the perfect thing...
Crock Pot Baked Potato Soup
- 4 large baking potatoes
- 2/3 cup butter or margarine
- 2/3 cup flour
- 6 cups milk
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 12 slices cooked and crumbled bacon
- 1 1/4 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 1/2 teaspoons chicken bouillon granules
- additional cooked bacon (optional)
1. Wash potatoes and prick several times with a fork.
2. Bake in foil in a preheated oven for 45 minutes to 1 hour or until done.
(I did this in the microwave minus the foil)
3. Let cool.
4. Cut potatoes.
5. Melt butter in a heavy sauce pan over low heat.
6. Add flour, stirring until smooth.
7. Cook 1 minutes, stirring constantly.
8. Gradually add milk.
9. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture is bubbly.
10. Pour into crock pot and then add potato cubes, salt, pepper, crumbled bacon, cheddar cheese and chicken granules.
11. Cook on High for 4 hours.
12. If soup is to thick, add a little milk at a time until desired thickness is achieved.
13. Garnish with additional cheese and crumbled bacon.
Yummy and easy. My favorite combo!
Whadya say?

I would love to know how one mails a cupcake...what a great way to find out! And I could just hug you for that crock pot recipe! With three kids and one on the way, I am learning to love my crock pot! Thanks!
Your blog is the first one I read everyday! You are such an inspiration, and I love how you don't mask your life to make it appear all fun and games - that wouldn't be reality! So many times I read your posts, and I think to myself, "Okay, I am normal, there are other moms out there like me!"
That potato soup recipe sounds delicious! It will definitely be on my menu for next week! :)
Thanks for being so generous with your giveaways!
i love your blog, i check it all the time - i don't usually comment but today i will - not just for the cupcakes but because I enjoy your blog and your willing to share your life - the ups and downs and make the rest of us feel normal.

I am so making that soup! It sounds divine...bacon and potatoes. You can't go wrong with that combo. I'm so excited for your favorite things giveaway...what are the odds I'll be lucky enough to actually win something?

I would be so pleased if a cupcake showed up at my door. Oh, yes i would!
I think I need to start making bribes for comments on my blog, too, lol.
I also want to know how one would mail a cupcake! But those little feet look so cute!
Sounds super yummy (soup recipe)...I love the fall!! Though winter is a little too chilly for me, I still love the fall. It brings everything together with the big finale at the end of the year...the holidays. Then when January comes around, I am more prepared for the long winter months. Thank you for sharing!! Plus, a cupcake giveaway...wow, can life get any better ;-)
Yum! A cupcake in the mail! Awesome. And I'm glad you don't feel like a freak anymore. A little funky? Yes. A freak? No way.
Well, you got me commenting !!
But I do wonder what that cupcake would look like after a journey all the way to the Netherlands, though !! :)
Okay, you got me...although I did just comment recently! I don't want you to know just how often I'm here, in case you think I'm stalking...my little Paige and I love to groove to your playlist!
Have a happy day :)

I've been reading your blog since the summer and have never had the nerve to comment. :) I'm a newlywed and have been desperately trying to find recipes for the crock-pot. :) And, as I search, you post this recipe! Thanks so much! I cannot wait to try it! :) Thanks so much for such a wonderful blog. Your boys are adorable, your recipes are fantastic, and your blog is an awesome read!!
I"m totally NOT a lurker, and especially when there's a cupcake involved! Sew on, sista! :-)
Yummy in my tummy!
Your recipe and the cupcake :)
Hope you are having a great week!

I don't think that I have commented before. and if I have, it has been quite awhile ago!
*I love your blog.
*I love how you are real.
*I love your projects and etsy store. One day I will have some extra money to order something!
*i love your recipes. I don't usually like soup, but the loaded baked potato one is yummmmmy! The Oreo cookie cookies are a favorite around here!
*You have inspired me to sew. I don't really know how, but I am learning. I made my daughter a pumpkin shirt and let her wear it in public, so I am getting better! My 1st sewing attempt was a pillow, it was never seen by anyone...it was hideous!

Um, you KNOW how much I heart cupcakes. Like, almost more than fabric. Okay, well not quite...
What a great idea!
Keep up the good work my friend! You know I LOVE your blog and besides, a loooong time ago I asked you how blogging was working out for you and it was your encouraging reply that gave me the extra push I needed to start myself!
~Ashley :)
I love your blog and cupcakes too!
I've commented once before, but sure enough I should do it more often!
