why NOT to say things out loud...

So say you are at MOPS...eating a tasty (5x the normal size) breakfast...sipping your sweet tea...telling your friend what a dream it has been to transition Moses to a toddler bed. And it has been...no trouble whatsoever. Night time is good...naps are good. No complaints here.

But I said it all out loud. To someone outside of Doug or family. What was I thinking? Might as well have done myself in right there. Should have known I was in for it...

One nice advantage we (adults) have over toddlers is that we know that sound travels. They don't. So while Moses was supposed to be settling in for his nap, I hear noises over the monitor that assure me that is not what is happening.

I go in to find him out of his bed...not so bad in and of itself...but the twin bed in his room...along with his comforters, a book or two, blankets and Doggy (his bff) are CoVeReD in bum cream. Yep. I put him back in his toddler bed(with his chin quivering), scoop up all of the covered goods and leave the room...the wailing for Doggy begins...ugh. At the end of his rest time (because he didn't nap a wink) I went to go get him...his little toddler brain was intuitive enough to pretend to be asleep!!!! When he "wakes" up he says to me "naughty", with the above look on his face. Yep.
And just so you know...it takes 2 runs through the wash and LOTS of dish soap and hot water to get bum cream out of a stuffed animal...and only two runs through the wash to get it out of everything else.
He knew he was naughty, too...cause he spent the rest of the day trying to make it up to me...being silly...telling "jokes"...being cuddly and sweet...It's a good thing this boy is cute...and that he knows it...and knows how to use it...I mean, who can stay mad at that face?
And I am steadily running out of lap and lung capacity. 37 weeks today!!!! I could cry and laugh all at the same time...and apparently I look very tired...at least that is what the general public feels the need to tell me repeatedly...thus the photos of my belly and not my face. :)

And should you ever have a child that eats bum cream poisons information let me know that it will give them the runs and a cranky tummy but won't hurt them.

He also said it'll teach him not to do it again but that bit proved to be wrong:(

ah yes...I know these days well...but my children prefer shampoo, on the carpet, all the way down the hallway. Oh well.
And you should, by the way, just get used to the crying/laughing exhausted feeling, it won't be going away for a long while, heehee
Just yesterday, when I went to drop off my older daughter at softball practice, I ran into a friend's husband. He wanted to know where the rest of the fam was. when I explained that they were napping he said"you look like you need a nap -you look tired" Maybe i do, but sometimes you just get sick of hearing about it, know what I mean? It just ruins your day. :) Hang in

Holy Moly, look at that tummy...it's looks like someone with a name that starts with the leter "a" wants to get out! Those pictures are precious of Moses. He's such a cutie pie. He looks like he's really going to enjoy his new little bro!

I got a little worried for you when I heard the words bum cream, but remembered that was a product. Fortunately neither of my boys did that, but my friend's little one used the "real bum cream" (YUCK!!) and smooshed it into the carpet in his bedroom. I just remember my friend called me and was freaking out!!

It's so good that you blog about this stuff daily, so you can go back and show these things to Moses when he gets older (so cute btw). Do you happen to print out your blog posts so you can keep a hard copy? I've thought about doing that with mine, but don't know of a good format to try printing it.

Anyway, have a happy friday and here's to good naps for both you and Moses. :o)

Oh boy. I'm glad I'm not the only one. Miles rubbed cream into his carpet and I have found random cream marks on his duvet and chair during nap time not too long ago. And he is 3 1/2! Fun to clean, I know. I keep wondering at what age (his age) we should get new carpet without having to worry so much about interesting stains...

Summer got into the bum cream the other day. Luckily she only managed to get it all over her face before we caught her.

Great belly pic, I hope the next few weeks fly by for you!

It drives me crazy when people say, "You look exhausted! Did you sleep?" ... "Well, yes. Yes, I did sleep. But you're making me want to go hide in my bed a little longer, thanks!"

ahhh... I would stick my son in his bed with lots of books and then tell him NOT to go to sleep. He almost always fell asleep though but we never talked about it. I never asked him how his nap was, only ever asked how his books were. Worked for quite awhile.

I had a hard time getting bum cream out of carpet so I can only imagine. Ugh! But just look at his sweet little face. It's a good thing kids are so darn cute.
I just have to say that "You look tired" is the worst comment someone can make. Why do people even say that? Your belly looks great:)
