I confess.

One of my favorite anti-mess tricks may make you think I am a loon. But it works for me. I don't let Moses feed himself foods that have a tendency to stain. AHH! It even sounds crazy typed out. But it's true. Spaghetti with sauce...HA! Chocolate pudding...no way. Popsicles...only if nearly nude and OUTside. Imagine my heart skipping a beat when we went to get Moses from Sunday school and they were having cupcakes as a snack...with bright dye laden frosting with BLACK writing on them. Oy!

The above photo is a sight that is only recently observed in our household. I have only recently begun to let him use a spoon to feed himself. Forks have been used for some time. Spoons...not so much. Why forks but not spoons? Well...most fork foods that we consume are of the non-staining variety...chicken, noodles, veggies, etc. Only recently am I letting go enough to let him feed himself yogurt (though I do tend to gravitate towards the lighter colored ones.) It helps that I found enormous bibs...they are basically hazmat suits. I also have had a heavy duty office chair mat under the high chair...which is MUCH nicer than any of the high chair mats I have found in stores.
Don't worry...he is not deprived in any way...he still gets lots of variety but I get to spend less time getting stains out of clothing and the carpet. :)

Do YOU have a crazy little habit that you are just dying to share? I'm waiting to hear it...
I can't help but to start getting a little excited for the day my two little boys meet...I have high hopes that Moses will be a GREAT big brother. He refuses to talk to the baby through my clothes...it has to be bare belly all the way...
Today he also insisted that baby needed some milk...
And then here he is giving baby a hug. :) I'm telling you...this boy is so stinkin' sweet some days I could just squish him!...of course then there are days that I could just squish him for other reasons... :)

I have started putting new items in the shop today...lots of yummy towels...if you want a certain color, I'd be happy to reserve it for you...I have no idea how long I will be able to carry the bright colored ones so grab them while you can.

I'm off to try to catch up with some of my ideas...don't forget my question:

Do YOU have a crazy little trick/habit that you are just dying to share? I'm waiting to hear it...

We sometimes have naked dinners-- at least for the kids! For things like chili and speghetti, there's no way I'm trying to get those stains out!

Im super picky about my hair and have kinda high maintenaince hair so rather than get up super early I shower and wash my hair the night before, blow my hair out, piece by piece, straighten it, blow it with the cold setting on the blow drier to "set it" and then go to bed with fully fixed hair..lol...that way in the morning I have about 10 mins or less of fixing time with my hair and it looks GREAT. If I did it in the morning it would take at least 3o-45 mins...UGH...Most people look at me like Im an alien when I tell them this but it makes my a.m. MUCH BETTER!!!!!!!!!!!!

By the way...I dont think you are so weird about how you feed your little boy. When my girls were babies I wiped their face literally after every single bite!!

I USED to be exactly like that.
Now, I have four kiddos, and it's just too much. I mostly spend my time, now, cleaning the floors AFTER we eat.
FYI...get Phels-Naptha bar soap. It gets anything out. ANYTHING.
And, Dawn liquid to get out grease stains. You know the kind that look like there is a permanent 'wet' mark on your clothes.

I always take my kids shirts off when they are eating messy food. It was the only solution after I had baby #2. Too crazy! You are going to LOVE LOVE LOVE having 2 boys. They will ADORE each other...at least that has been my experience in the last year since I've had 2 boys. Going to check out the shop...

I think your weird. I think your kid is going to have OCD! ahahha I want to baby sit him and give him a giant pile of spaghetti with extra sauce and when he looks to me for a fork I will say. God gave you fingers, dig IN!

hahhaha

You are a little bit funky, you said so yourself.

I am a stain avoiding freak too! I try to have nothing in the house with food coloring. HATE IT!! Basically I have found that if God made the ingredients, they come out of clothes. If scientists made them... well, kiss the clothes goodbye. I'm addicted to Oxy Clean as well... love the stuff.

I am known to take shirts off of small people like Jamie said.
I am also a "grease freak" I just can't stand it if my little ones eat anything with grease on it, french fries, potato chips, whatever, and then they try to touch anything - yuck. So sometimes I carry wet washcloths packed in ziplock bags in the car or diaper bag.
If we are at home I have been known to scream "Don't touch my walls or anything else until I have wiped you!" I guess there are probably alot of moms out there like me. :)

That bib is so big, I thought it was Moses' shirt at first, LOL!! I am the same way about messy foods, though. My Mom always tells me that I need to let her "experiment" with spaghetti.. I think it would cause me to have seizures. :)

I am the exact same way...no foods that stain...my quirks were sauces. I never introduced my kids to any type of sauces or dips because I didn't want them to stain their clothes so now they hate ketchup, mustard, BBQ sauce, etc...they don't even know what to do with it. HA!
