exploiting your child to make cute...

Don't you just love this ridiculously cute Valentine...that also doubles as a keepsake? I found a much more simplistic version in one of my magazines...that I can't find at the moment...but I thought I would dress it up for you a bit. :) And I am giving you LOTS of time to get them done for all the grandmas out there. :)
First, I strapped Moses into his highchair...you think I would let him run free with RED paint? Ha! I occupied him up there with his own paint with water pages...and promised him mini-marshmallows...He is saying "cheese" in the photo above...not grimacing in pain. :)
Then, I taped a piece of card stock to one of Moses' large board books (so the paper wouldn't move)...then painted the bottom of one foot at a time...brought the book to his foot, stamped a left foot, then another left foot on the other side of the paper...then when I did the right foot...I overlapped the heels and made a "V" with the foot prints...making them heart shaped...sort of. :)
Moses actually enjoyed it...and kept asking to see his "piddies" aka piggies. :) The only problem I ran into is that this is Doug's son...and if you know Doug, you know that you only have to talk about tickling him to actually get him to react...so painting the bottoms of Moses' feet with a brush was a bit tricky a time or two. :)
Then you cut out your footprints in the shape of a heart...
...add layers and embellishments to make it all cutesy like. :) I stitched around the feet and card...you could add buttons, glitter and ribbon...or use different color paints, etc. :) I love how they turned out...this one is going into Moses scrap book...don't forget to date yours! :)

Have fun making these and let me know if you do...I want to see all the cute piddies out there. :)

Oh I miss my kids being so little. I hold onto every cute baby-ish thing my son (youngest) does (perhaps why he has some issues?). And yet another little sweetie is on the way for you! Do cherish them!! I wish I could have a third, but hubby does not.

What cute little feet. A grandma's dream card! I should have shared my (stolen) idea for grandparent's Christmas gifts from the kids. Here goes, in case you need an idea for a B-day gift or just some extra art for your own home. I bought small canvases from Hob Lob (they were cheap). Make sure they are pre-primed. Then just used acrylic paints to paint each a primary color. 2 different colors for each set. (One for each kid really). Then each child chose a color to paint their hand and stamp onto a canvas. So my son's canvases were painted green and he used blue for his hand stamp. My daughter's were yellow and she chose lilac for her hand. The grandparents loved them. I saw a "kit" (Ha! kit?) for this in some upscale gift catalog and it cost a fortune. Thank goodness we are crafty and thrifty!

This is such a cute idea....I wonder if I can convince my 2 boys to do this for Valentine cards for the Grandparents...They may think they are too old for this crafty project. But I think it's a great idea. I'm gonna give it a try....

So, I loved this idea and thought I would do it too...I have a 9 month old so they weren't nearly as cute...but the G-mas were in heaven when they got their valentine in the mail! Thanks for the idea...you have some other ideas that I want to steal too...I'm not nearly as crafty as you but enjoy thinking I might be one day!!! Thanks for sharing your ideas!!!
