Bit by bit...

We are getting back into the swing of normal...seems we haven't seen much of that since summer...while I do love all of my Fall and Christmas decorating, baking, entertaining, etc...there is just something about getting back to the normal...you know? I have been working at resetting the house back to normal mode...all of the Christmas goodies are tucked away for next year...I have been purging the house of "extra"...admittedly one of my favorite things to do...Oh, and thinking about getting ready for a new baby...
~*~
I am often asked how I manage to keep such an organized home...I have many tricks up my sleeve you know? :) One is that I go through the house regularly...monthly and get rid of things we don't need or use. The less stuff you have the less time it takes to care for it. "Things" that live in our house must meet one of two criteria...1) Do I LOVE it? 2) Is it useful? If it doesn't meet one of those two I usually get rid of it(hello Goodwill)...I have not given up something that I regret to date. I don't often keep things because I might need it someday...an obvious exception are all of the baby things stored up in our attic...but those will be useful soon, won't they?
~*~
I'll share more of my tricks in later posts but for now, how about you? What do you do to keep organized?
I have also been crafty...as least as crafty as one can be sitting on their bottom...I have had a cold since Christmas Eve and have lots of extra aches and pains to go along with my "normal" pregnancy ailments. :) I swear this pregnancy is twice as hard on my body as the last one...the sweet little birds above are one of my favorite new things to hit the shop soon...
I am also smitten with my latest bunch of scraps from Lassie Girl...LOVE all of the yummy dots and new fabrics...and love that I can get my hands on some fabrics that I love without having to buy a yard of it.

Oh, and one more thing...if you are anything like me you will love this...want 1200 FREE prints? Go HERE and sign up for an account and you can get 50 free 4 by 6's and 50 free 5 by 7's per month!! :) Start the new year ahead of the game with already having your Christmas photos ordered! :) I had a friend who recently started using them and has no complaints. :)
P.S. If you sign up...use this link so I will get some additional free credits...you will too.

Don't forget my question of the day: What do you do to keep organized?

I'm new to your blog and I love-love it!

Two things that keep me sane and organized are;
1) my daytimer/planner...it goes everywhere with me and has our calendar, lists of pretty much everything, and important info
2) our wall calendar...dry erase..updated on the last day of the month so everyone in the fam knows what's going on and has no excuses ...lol...very important with 2 teenagers!

I would also like your tips on how you get so much stuff done for your shop and posted being pregnant and having a small child!

Organization, I also keep my planner with me always. I try to right down things immediately so it's all in the same spot!

Ha! I too am starting to purge (love it) and organize. It sure would help if I did it more often for one thing. But what I'm starting to do more and more is get containers to house like objects. That way the things we do use and want, have a place of their own. It makes it so much easier to find things, to clean up and even to purge. I'm done purging and cleaning both kids rooms. yay! Though I think I may probably give away a few more of my son's toys. Onto the basement next...

I am so lucky, in that my husband used to be a packrat and is starting to become "reformed". He saw a great article about getting rid of all things you don't use in the present. It says to sell old things and if you ever need one of those things again, use the money you made selling all your old unused things. That seemed to have him sold. The other thing he is starting to realize is that the phrase "A place for everything and everything in its place" is starting to make sense. He he! I'm a happy girl!

And the best advice is the KISS principle. Keep it simple {sweetie}. As you may know, the last S does not originally stand for sweetheart, but I like that better.

hey crystal! glad you enjoyed your holidays! mine were great but SO SO exhausting. working in retail, seeing all the families ... i too LOVE christmas but am very very happy to get back to nice and normal and QUIET!! :) i am so behind on my crafty-ness!

as for staying organized ... i make a TON of lists and just work really hard to not let things pile up. a little cleaning each day helps you stay away from an overwhelming total cleaning and organizing, you know?

happy 2009!!!

I love the little birds!...and the cupcake tags in your shop! I just love your whimsical style! You are such an inspiration for all things fun! I look forward to checking your blog daily! It brightens my day!

What a fun batch of scraps! Fun fabric and ribbon are my weakness I seem to be nesting through crafting...buying all kinds of fun fabric and ribbon with grand plans to learn to make dresses and bows. I am getting eager to dress baby Abby up! I would spend all my spare time day dreaming what to do with those scraps! Can't wait to see all of your new additions to your shop!

i don't think i do anything specific.
i am so random and clean what i feel like in no order what-so-ever. it's really not a good way to be. and it kind of makes me crazy but it's just the way i tick.

and when something HAS to be done...i avoid it like the plague. i can think of 100 other things i'd rather do. and can barely ever get that task done.
it's awful.
my brain is scattered.

i am looking forward to having all the christmas stuff back in their boxes and having the normal. and just comfy.

3 of my kids are gone for the week! i am feeling a little crazy about that too. there is so much to get done but i could also just catch up sleep! or crafts.
what to do...what to do?
have a good monday night!

Yay, I love those birdies and scraps too! I love it as the new header as well!(Though I did miss seeing Moses' little face!)

I am about to do a closet makeover to get my craft stuff organized! It's a mess right now! I'm a purger as well though! I clean out my clothes at least 3 times a year and donate other random things I no longer "need" ALL. THE. TIME. Which makes me think that I should probably become a better shopper! I should ask myself "Do I NEED this? Do I LOVE this?" before I buy it, not when I'm ready to throw it out!

I am a total pack rat, so I definitely need to purge some un-needed things this new year!! BUT to keep all my things in order, I LOVE bins and jars, in which I store just about everything I own haha!! And I have to obsessively vacuum and sweep.. a clean floor makes for a clean mind in my house! :)

Aaahh... I USED to be so organized. So VERY organized. Then, I had three kids. I don't know what happened! I am still working on that one. I do keep a detailed calendar though. That I do. Otherwise I would always be forgetting things that were important! My hall closet, My kitchen cupboards, my dresser, everything that can be closed up... you don't want to see. It may look good on the outside, but just don't open anything.

Looking through all the mark down christmas ornaments the other day in various stores and found some BEAUTIFUL delicate christmas-red glass birds. They made me think of all your lovely red birds!

As for organisation... I'm not at all qualified to speak about that.

Hey Crystal. Just wondering if you plan on doing another swap? I wasn't able to participate in the last one you had. :(

Hope you have a happy New Year!

I try to challenge myself during her naps and see how much I can get done. I use one of her naps to clean and the other to craft. It works for me. One small project a day keeps my house clean! :)

One word - Elfa

From the Container Store (And it's 30% right now till Feb!) That's how I stay organized. Well, and rubbermaid too. Daytime planners work great, even for SAHM. Jealous of how organized you are! Everyone can be a little more organized at times.
Happy New Year!

Just a note . . . I've had three customers tell me it took more than 2 weeks to receive their photos. They're the only 3, and it was during the Christmas season, but I just wanted to give people a heads up just in case.
